The 14th edition of the eagerly awaited festival will be held over four weekends in September in the organizing municipalities of Borgonovo Val Tidone, Ziano Piacentino, Alta Val Tidone and Pianello Val Tidone, with the patronage of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Province itself and the Consortium Vini Piacentini, and the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce, the Bank of Piacenza and the social wineries of the area, Cantina Valtidone and Cantina di Vicobarone.

The journey through the senses of wine will start as usual from Borgonovo Val Tidone, which on Sept. 3 will host Ortrugo&Chisöla, in a well-chosen combination of Ortrugo, the only wine and grape variety native to the area, and focaccia with de.co. cracklings. "This is a traditional event," said Monica Patelli, who was present in the dual capacity of president of the province and mayor of Borgonovo, "but every year it is enriched with new features and opportunities for visitors. We confirm the open-air location in Via Roma, which was a great success last year, and the awarding for the second year of the "Best Ortrugo" prize, thanks to the jury of professional sommeliers and Coldiretti. We will combine the tastings with many other initiatives, starting with a guided tour of our Rocca."

It will move on Sept. 10 to Ziano Piacentino, in the streets of the historic center, where Malvasia will await the experience of the senses in the "Sette Colli in Malvasia" stage, which combines the esteemed wine with Piacenza's dop cured meats, in particular pancetta. "Also in Ziano we will travel in the groove of tradition," commented Paolo Badenchini, deputy mayor of Europe's most vined municipality, "combining as always the Valtidone Wine Fest with the Grape Festival, now in its 71st edition, the oldest in the province. So it will be, as always, an intense weekend of events around wine and wine culture, including fun and food and wine, art and entertainment."

The itinerant nature of the festival becomes even more pronounced in the third event of the festival, on September 17, in Alta Val Tidone, with the event dedicated to passito and autochthonous wines. "This year we will host producers and visitors in Nibbiano," says Franco Albertini, mayor of the municipality born from the union of Caminata, Pecorara and Nibbiano itself. "Between Piazza Combattenti and the streets of the village, DiTerreDiCibiDiVini ...e di Oli will be held, which as the title says unites and enhances our best agri-food products, our traditions and our roots with an eye to the future and promotion.

Last leg of the journey with direction Pianello Val Tidone, where on September 24 in Piazza Madonna, the bottles of "Pianello Frizzante," the event dedicated to sparkling white and red wines, starting with Gutturnio, the king of Piacenza wines, will be uncorked. "It's the weekend of the 'Sagra di San Maurizio'," recalls Simone Castellini, deputy mayor of the Municipality of Pianello, "and for us it's the big closing and farewell party of the summer season. We do it also thanks to Pianello Frizzante, which is also a sincere tribute to the fruits of our land and to those who work it with love every day, giving us excellent products. It will be a celebration as always, with many attractions and moments of culture and fun."

Also present at the press conference was Marco Profumo, president of the Consorzio Tutela Vini Doc Colli Piacentini, who emphasized "the value of events such as the Valtidone Wine Fest, which allow our wine to be known to a wider audience and to promote the entire production and economic system that gravitates around this excellence. It is also an important festival because of the value of unity it manages to convey and of working in a single direction for the good of our community."
