Three projects worth more than 180,000 euros to promote Piacenza's DOC wines kick off

April 11, 2024

Improving the knowledge and perception of the value of Piacenza's DOC wines in Italy and abroad to support their affirmation in their target markets: with this objective, the Consortium for the Protection of DOC Colli Piacentini Wines is ready to invest a total of 182,923.44euros to implement three important international projects developed in recent months and capable of intercepting public co-financing for more than 70% of their amount.

Gutturnio, Malvasia and the other DOC wine productions of the Colli Piacentini will be at the center of a series of promotional activities and tasting masterclasses at important sector events to be held between 2024 and 2025 in European Union countries identified as emerging markets particularly sensitive to the types of wines produced. The first two stops of the international promotion will be Warsaw (Poland) and Vilnius (Lithuania); in the latter capital, in particular, the spotlight will turn on Malvasia di Candia Aromatica as an example of Italian aromatic wine of excellence along with Moscato, during a seminar organized in collaboration with the Piedmont Wine Consortium. Completing the actions of this first project with a total value of 121,932.90 euros - of which 85,353.03 euros are co-financed through the Rural Development Program and National Strategic Plan of the CAP (P.S.P.)2023 2027 EU Reg. no. 2115/2021, Intervention SRG 10 "Promotion of Quality Products" - will be an event to be held in the national territory.

At the same time, through two other projects worth a total of 60,990.54 euros, on which the Consortium for the Protection of Colli Piacentini DOC Wines managed to obtain co-financing of 51,233.38 euros from MASAF (Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry), until the end of the year the DOC wines of the area will be at the center of information and training activities aimed at the consumers of today and tomorrow. If, in fact, communication in the media and online aimed at making the distinctive elements at the basis of the value of local DOC productions more and more evident will continue, a pioneering training project aimed at students in high school institutes with scientific, technical and hotel specializations will soon be launched to help them develop conscious consumption choices based on knowledge of PDO and PGI products and their production processes.
